The Edge of Tranquillity is the story of George, a German refugee, who is suffering from a brain tumour. Acutely aware of his fragile identity, he embarks on a painful journey through his memories and his passion for Handel. George's and Handel's lives are explored in a wonderfully original, imaginative and sometimes humorous form, using lyrical and earthy language and images, plumbing the depths of emotion and memory, and including some of Handel's most beautiful music. The audience is taken on a cathartic voyage, full of unexpected twists and turns, culminating in a surprising and moving ending.

The play premiered in Bristol at the
Brewery at the Tobacco Factory, where
it ran for two weeks.
